When Kathleen Edwards walked away from a successful music career in her early thirties, she didn’t disappear quietly. She moved to suburban Ontario and opened a coffee shop called Quitters. A move that says everything about who she is: self-aware, funny, and entirely her own.
For more than two decades, Kathleen Edwards has been a defining force in North American roots music, blending alt-country, folk and rock. Her debut album Failer received critical acclaim and catapulted her to alt-country-hero status. Multiple records and half a dozen Juno nominations led her to shared stages with heroes like Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and John Fogerty.
Then she stepped away. But her comeback was stronger than anyone imagined.
Her 2020 return album Total Freedom was a rebirth. It landed two songs in the Top 30 of the Triple A chart in America— reminding everyone of why she's been compared to Tom Petty and Neil Young. More recently, Kathleen co-wrote "Good Woman" with Maren Morris and released Covers as a love letter to her songwriting heroes. Her 2025 album Billionaire was co-produced by Grammy-winners Jason Isbell and Gena Johnson.
"I can't help but want to write great songs, connect with people, and see what's ahead," she says.
