Marketing and Communications Manager

Fredericton Playhouse is seeking a creative collaborator with a depth of experience in communications, data-driven consumer marketing, and digital/social media strategy to join our team as Marketing and Communications Manager.
Reporting to the Director of Growth & Development, the Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the development of Fredericton Playhouse’s brand and the management and distribution of the organization’s external communications. The successful candidate will also lead the organization’s brand transition to the Hawkes Centre for the Arts, Fredericton’s new performing arts centre set to open mid-2027.
The Marketing and Communications Manager works collaboratively with executive and senior management to develop messages, materials, target audiences, and distribution opportunities for all Playhouse/Hawkes Centre programs and services, including presentations, education and outreach, fund development, corporate communications, volunteer program, patron services, ticketing, and rental services.
Accountabilities:
- Manage Marketing and Communications staff
- Plan and direct content (text, graphics, video, audio, etc.) and distribute advertising, media, and direct marketing campaigns for:
- Presentations (performances, outreach, education);
- Fundraising campaigns and projects (including sponsorships);
- Human Resources advancement (including volunteers);
- Corporate Communications;
- Patron services;
- Rental Services; and
- any other messages intended for an external audience.
- Ensure that the Playhouse/Hawkes Centre’s brand is communicated in a manner consistent with the organization’s brand strategy and the mission, values, and vision articulated in its strategic plan.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional media.
- Direct and manage the organization’s social media engagement strategy.
- Manage activity and strategy for online platforms (websites, social media, e-lists).
- Collaborate with other managers to develop and execute strategies for audience, partner, and donor engagement/development.
- Develop and manage the use of database marketing platforms and integrations (Ticketing, e-mail marketing platforms, etc.).
- Develop and maintain relationships with rental clients and provide marketing support.
- Manage and work within the parameters of assigned budgets.
- Other duties as may be prescribed by the Director of Growth and Development.
Qualifications and Core Competencies:
- University degree in Marketing or equivalent
- 3-5 years of demonstrated progressive experience in a similar role
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects at the same time without supervision, excellent planning, time management and decision-making skills
- Supervision experience, and a high energy team builder with leadership skills, committed to continuous improvement
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office 365 and an aptitude for learning new technology applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to tailor communication to audience
- Strong data management skills
- Advanced understanding of social media engagement
- Creativity
- Foundational understanding of graphic design fundamentals
- Ability to collaborate with other team members in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding and appreciation of the public value of the performing arts
The starting salary range for this position will be between $58,928 and $76,607 annually and will be based on the successful candidate’s experience and training.
