Two actors in yellow jumpsuits, one holding a cake, the other is stretched out on a conveyor belt

This performance will be in English. Welcome to the Returns Department, where family friendly slapstick comedy meets world class puppetry. The Kif-Kif sisters inspect an ever-revolving conveyor belt of broken goods and try their best not to play with the goods. What could go wrong?!

The Returns Department combines physical theatre, circus, robotics and puppetry. With humor inspired by Chaplin and comic strips, the show takes a playful look behind the scenes of a production line. Through defective products, the characters find a space of freedom to express their creativity, invent, and evolve.

The Returns Department features the Kif-Kif Sisters, identical twins from Montreal who have been creating shows for the public since 2007. Their humor is both tender and intelligent, accessible to children and adults alike. Their creative approach is based on play, the unusual, and the repurposing of everyday objects.

A word from Kif-Kif: “Children's creative space is reduced when their toys have only one function. Likewise for adults, our objects usually have a single function. We are, in a way, creators that the industry turns into consumers. At the Returns Department, we are reclaiming a world where everything has been preconceived for us. We juggle with toys, we tear paper with a helicopter, we draw on a conveyor belt. The show presents an atmosphere of vibrant, lively play, a way of approaching life through play and laughter. We encourage spectators of all ages to keep in mind that the human precedes the object, that we can play with objects as we please.”

Recommended age range: 4-11 years old. Please note that tickets to all Kidstage Series shows are General Admission.
